Casket of gilt metal set with brown aventurine glass panels in cagework mounts chased and engraved with flowers, scrolls, and rocaille, those to the stepped cover and angles mostly set with splashed blue aventurine glass, with chased bracket handle, openwork key and fitted velvet interior.

Label: Gold-colored flecks within the glass matrix that enliven this casket imitate the appearance of aventurine quartz. The two tea canisters and the sugar box are also impersonators: their simple metal mounts reveal that they are made of enamel.
