The Spanish
Map of North America showing the changes after the Treaty of Paris
Very few Spaniards came to British colonies before 1763. In that year, Spain ceded Florida to Great Britain under the terms of the Treaty of Paris marking the end of the Seven Years War. As a result, 3000 Spanish colonials, Africans, and Native Americans suddenly found themselves within the bounds of British North America. They remained only briefly, however, as the vast majority took advantage of Spain's offer to relocate them to Cuba.
