Massachusetts Bay

Puritan separatists founded the Plymouth Colony in 1621. A different set of puritans, embittered with the Church of England but who nevertheless remained in it, founded the Massachusetts Bay colony in 1630. After the Glorious Revolution of 1688, Plymouth was incorporated into Massachusetts Bay to establish a puritan commonwealth.
