The inscription on this delft plate refers to William, duke of Cumberland. He and his forces defeated the pro-Stuart army at the battle of Culloden in April 1746. A plate at the Ashmolean Museum is inscribed "God save Ye Duke of Cumberland: Remember Ye fight of Culloden."

The London attribution for this plate is based on the shape.
