Currency. "Colony of the Massachusetts Bay. The Possessor of this Note, shall be paid by the Treasurer of this Colony Three Shillings Lawfull money by the 7 Day of Decmr. 1781, which Bill shall be received for the aforesaid sum in all payments at the Treasury and in all other payments by order of the General Assembly." Printed in black; the face has a small oval vignette of a ship. Under the vignette is the word "Committee". The back shows an American holding a sword in one hand and the MAGNA CHARTA in the other, surrounded by "Issued in Defence of American Liberty" and "Ense Petit Placidam, Sub Libertate, Quietem" (By arms he seeks peace with freedon). Also "THREE SHILLINGS" at the top and "Decmr 7th, 1775." at the bottom.
