Second Virginia Convention Meets in Richmond
Considering Williamsburg vulnerable to troops under Lord Dunmore's command, delegates meet at St. John's Church in Richmond, where Patrick Henry gives a stirring speech that strongly condemns British authority in support of strengthening Virginia's defenses. They then call for each county to raise a company of cavalry and one of infantry.
