Parliament Declares Massachusetts in Rebellion; Adopts Lord North’s Conciliatory Proposal
In a joint address to the King, the House of Commons and House of Lords "find that a part of your Majesty's subjects in the province of Massachusett's Bay have proceeded so far as to resist the authority of the supreme legislature, and that a rebellion at this time actually exists within the said province." At the same time, Parliament adopts Lord North's Conciliatory Proposals, which would relinquish its authority over internal taxation.
