Samuel Adams Proposes Committees of Correspondence for Massachusetts Towns
Samuel Adams proposes to the Boston Town Meeting that "Associations & Combinations be everywhere set up to consult and recover our just Rights." Five days later, it created a committee of correspondence to facilitate communication amongst the towns of Massachusetts Bay. By January 1773 more than a hundred of the towns could claim their own committee.
