Benjamin Franklin Testifies to Harmful Effect of Stamp Tax
Benjamin Franklin begins to testify before a committee of the House of Commons as to the harmful impact of the Stamp Act on the colonies and pronounces it unenforceable. He argues that as an internal tax, it is unconstitutional, whereas external taxes, such as trade regulations, do not require the consent of provincial assemblies.
