John Wilkes Found Guilty of Seditious Libel
Politician and writer John Wilkes is tried and found guilty for his attack on the government in the North Briton no. 45 and for his Essay on Women. Having fled to France and been expelled from Parliament, he is outlawed for not appearing to receive judgment.
