Constitutional Convention meets in Philadelphia
Recognizing the inherent weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation, delegates meet in Philadelphia to discuss revisions but quickly turn to creating an entirely new framework for the government. The convention results in the United States Constitution, which is signed by most of the delegates on September 17.
