Haveing already by thes ships comanded my son to waite upon yw
, with my address, I should not have added new trouble, had not
ye
suddaine and unexpected resolucón of my good friend Mr
Vaughn
to kiss yor
hand, obliged me to acqt
yw
that he hath been a
very great suffrer by, and is able to give a p[er]fect accompt of the
Depradations comited this sumer by Monsior Borgier, upon
ye our fishing fleete, of wch
I gave former intimations, And that
this Gentleman is one of those to whome his Majestye directed his
Comission to be assistant to and of Councell to Mr
Cutts, in ye
Province of New Hampshire, and very Loyally and faithfully
discharged that trust: But hath since been soe unhappy under
Mr
Cranfields Govermt
as not onely to be expelled ye
Councell, but
to his very great damage, to suffer a long and secure confinement;
it would ill become me, soe far to reflect upon ye
occasion, as
to condemn ye
one, as Justifye the other, or to say more than
that the affayrs of that Province, and all Improvemts
and
trade doe miserably Languish there, and that ye
efforts of those
in felicity, have great impressions upon ye
minds of many of
his Matyes
good subjects in ye
other Collonyes. And that this
Gentleman is of soe great Loyalty and integrity that I
p[re]sume he will conjure downe all passions and p[ro]vocations
and repr
sent his owne greivances and ye
state of that Province
with great truth and moderation, and in that confidence I
Recomend him to yor
Just favour, upon wch
I always p[re]sume and
to subscribe my selfe
